For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term GIF…welcome to the club. As I understand it, and have seen them used, GIFs are simply moving pictures that are typically inserted into blogs in order to bring home a particularly important point. **Side note** Can anyone actually tell me if it is pronounced with a hard “g,” or more like a “j?” Either way, they’re everywhere.
I’d like to draw attention to the fact that social media gets a lot of flack with regards to its influence over already-vulnerable teens and adolescents. Yes, social media certainly can play a role in the development of an eating disorder like anorexia, but a. it’s certainly only a PIECE of the puzzle and b. social media can also be used in a really positive ways to help build self-esteem and stay connected to social circles.
As such, I created a blog highlighting some GIFs that could be helpful for anyone looking for motivation in their eating disorder recovery. Please delight in some of my favorites below.
“If you’re going through a dark period, remember that you are not alone.” -Demi Lovato
“He’s very dreamy, but he is not the sun. You are.” -Cristina Yang (Grey’s Anatomy)
“I always thought, you know, it’s way more important to be funny or to be honest, than to look a certain way.” -Emma Stone
“You is Kind, You is Smart, You is Important.” – Abilene (The Help)
“To me, you are perfect.” – (Love Actually)
