Healthcare Professionals: You Are Critical to Eating Disorder Recovery
Eating disorders are complex and often involve co-existing conditions, such as anxiety disorders, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bipolar disorder and/or post-traumatic stress disorder. It takes a team of specialized professionals to support recovery for an individual.
At Walden, this means not only our multidisciplinary team, which specializes in eating disorder treatment, but also an individual’s outside healthcare providers, including primary care physicians, therapists, dietitians, school personnel and other allied professionals. Together, with frequent collaboration and information exchange, we can make a lasting difference.
Easy Referral Process
Walden values building and maintaining strong relationships with providers. We strive to earn referrals based on our reputation, our comprehensive treatment and our world-class team of professionals. We are “in-network” with most insurance providers and managed care companies.
It’s easy to refer patients to Walden’s system of care. Please call our admission department at 888-305-2997 or fill out the form on this page. One of our intake specialists will begin the process or answer any questions you have.
Our Promise: Collaboration & Transparency
Our collaboration begins even before an individual is admitted. An interdisciplinary team assesses the individual and a treatment plan is developed based on input from our team and any outpatient providers. The plan is designed to provide the individual with the most appropriate level of care, and the most realistic expectation of the continuing care that will need to take place once a patient is discharged from our programs.
We will provide you with the highest level of transparency throughout the entire process.
Continuing Education Opportunities
The understanding of eating disorders is evolving faster than ever before. New types of treatment, therapies and research are being developed almost every day. Our goal is to keep you continually informed.
- Spring & Fall Speaker Series: We host a biannual Speaker Series that highlights the latest best practices for diagnosing and treating eating disorders. Recent topics included binge eating disorder, ARFID, trauma and eating disorders, athletes and eating disorders and family-based therapy. Continuing education credits are available.
- Annual Conference: We invite researchers and practitioners from across the nation to present their work in the field on an annual basis. This conference is a chance for the eating disorder treatment community to network and grow together in our understanding of these complex conditions.
- Regular Email Updates: Our updates include clinical insights and practices, top news and research, and a list of relevant events in your area. Click here to sign up for our e-newsletter.
About Treatment at Walden
Walden is one of only a handful of eating disorder treatment centers in the country offering a full continuum of care, including inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and outpatient care. This ensures that your patients will always receive the right level of care as they progress toward recovery.
We treat individuals of all ages, genders and backgrounds. We treat all types of eating disorders, including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder and OSFED, as well as ARFID, orthorexia and diabulimia. We also treat most co-occurring disorders.
Our treatment combines a full range of behavioral therapy, medical treatment, pharmacotherapy, nutritional counseling and more. For children and adolescents, we use family-based treatment, as well as other interventions such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, medical management, expressive therapy, psychotherapy and relapse prevention.
If Your Patient Has an Eating Disorder, Care Is Just a Short Drive Away
Walden seeks to make treatment easily accessible to our patients, their families and all members of the treatment team.
Having treatment close to home minimizes the pressure of keeping medical appointments and allows most individuals to remain at home throughout the treatment process. It enables patients to spend time with their families or loved ones, who can provide them with the support they need as they progress toward recovery.
Walden has clinics throughout Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Georgia. Our 13 locations include one inpatient facility, two residential facilities, and 10 ambulatory care clinics. Patients can receive care in Amherst, Hyannis, Peabody, Waltham and Westborough, MA., Guilford, and South Windsor, CT, and Alpharetta and Dunwoody, GA.
