Treatment Programs

In-Person Partial Hospitalization Eating Disorder Treatment Programs

Independent living with structured daytime programming up to six days per week.

At Walden Behavioral Care, we are proud to offer one of the nation’s only full systems of care for specialized eating disorder support. Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) provides structured day support for teens and adults of all genders who do not need overnight support. We offer PHP virtually and at our outpatient clinics located across Massachusetts and in Connecticut.

PHP helps you to better understand the function of your eating disorder. This involves identifying the triggering thoughts and feelings that can often drive behavior. You will learn and practice skills that are designed to replace disordered behaviors and manage stress.

The primary goals of PHP are to:

  • Establish (or re-establish) normal patterns of eating
  • Understand and manage triggers
  • Interrupt and reduce the use of eating disorder behaviors

As part of our PHP, you will have access to a dedicated team of care professionals including a dietitian, nurse practitioner, therapist and mental health counselor. Together, you will create personalized treatment plans and goals to help guide you on your path to recovery.

Our PHP runs Monday – Friday for six hours each day. An optional sixth treatment day is available on Saturdays for adult patients who feel they need more support. We offer this level of care virtually and at most of our locations in Massachusetts and  Connecticut.

“The most helpful part of my treatment in PHP was definitely the groups. Feeling safe to open up to my peers who understood what I was going through was really important in my recovery and personal growth.”

Group therapy is an important part of our PHP. Group sessions provide a unique opportunity to connect with others who understand what you are going through. The impact of these connections is often felt way beyond the walls of Walden.

Group topics include:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
  • Family-Based treatment (for adolescents)
  • Expressive Therapy
  • Nutrition Education
  • Relapse Prevention
  • Communication Skills

In-Person PHP for Adult Eating Disorder Treatment
