Virtual PHP for Adults

In our virtual partial hospitalization program (PHP) for adults, we will help you better understand the function of your eating disorder. This involves identifying the triggering thoughts and feelings that often lead to disordered behaviors. You will learn and practice skills designed to replace these behaviors and manage stress.

Primary Goals of PHP for Adults with Eating Disorders

  • Establish (or re-establish) normal patterns of eating
  • Understand and manage triggers
  • Interrupt and reduce the use of eating disorder behaviors

As part of our program, you will have a dedicated team of care professionals, including a dietitian, nurse practitioner, and therapist. Together, you will create personalized treatment plans and goals to help guide you on your path to recovery. You will meet twice weekly with your therapist and once weekly with a dietitian and nurse practitioner.

Our PHP meets five days per week, Monday – Friday from 8:30 am – 2:30 pm. An optional sixth treatment day is available on Saturdays for adult patients who feel they need more support.

Virtual PHP for Adolescents

Parenting is never easy and can be especially tough lately. You may be noticing your teen’s behaviors around food, weight, or body size for the first time. Or you might be seeing an increase in unhealthy behaviors related to food or exercise. Perhaps you thought you were on the road to recovery with your teen, but now you are worried about a relapse. No matter what you may be dealing with, we are here to help.

Our virtual adolescent partial hospitalization program (PHP) gives teens (12-18) and their parents/caretakers the skills and education necessary to move toward recovery. Our adolescent program uses Family-Based Treatment (FBT), an evidence-based model proven to support lasting recovery.

Primary Goals of Virtual PHP for Adolescents with Eating Disorders

  • Understand and manage triggers
  • Interrupt and reduce the use of eating disorder behaviors

As part of our program, your child will work with a dedicated team of care professionals, including a dietitian, nurse practitioner, and therapist. Together, we will create personalized treatment plans and goals to help guide you on your path to recovery.

Adolescent Beyond Body LGBTQ+ Group

This elective group focuses on the ways gender, gender identity, and conflicting ideas from the media can affect eating disorder thoughts and behaviors. Participants will engage in topics and exercises focused on the facts and fictions of gender and body perception and also practice strategies grounded in self-compassion, self-validation, mindfulness, narrative work, and cognitive-emotional problem-solving.

Walden’s Beyond Body LGBTQ+ Group is offered through Walden’s HIPAA-compliant virtual program. PHP Groups meet Fridays at 11:15 am.

Virtual Eating Disorder Treatment FAQs

They look a lot like our in-person programs! You will still meet with your providers individually, participate in groups like DBT and CBT, and have coached meals. Everyone is on the same platform to encourage sharing in a secure, supportive environment. We offer programs at multiple times, Monday-Saturday, based on the level of care you need.

Our number one goal is to foster connectivity. DBT and CBT skills continue to be central topics in our groups online, just as they are in person. We also recognize the need to be creative and continue to roll out new group topics and elements. Check out our Virtual PHP and Virtual IOP Treatment pages to learn about additional groups available to clients currently enrolled in our programs and their families.

Yes! Our adolescent PHP and IOP programs follow the Family-Based Treatment model (FBT). This means we have groups for parents and adolescents, and multi-family meals have just become multi-family meals on screens.

Many insurance companies cover virtual treatment programs. For more information about insurance coverage for virtual programs, click here. We are always happy to discuss your individual plan and coverage. Give us a call or fill out the form on this page to get in touch.

We are open and accepting new patients to our in-person residential and inpatient eating disorder treatment programs.

Walden offers virtual partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient virtual treatment for patients residing in Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Road Island, and Vermont. Walden offers only intensive outpatient virtual treatment for patients residing in Alabama, Louisiana, and Maine.
