Partial Hospitalization Eating Disorders Treatment
Reconnecting with Daily Living
Walden’s Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) provides male and female adolescents and adults with the freedom of living at home while receiving structured and supportive eating disorder treatment during the day.
For adults in the PHP, the focus of treatment is to teach patients how to interrupt eating disordered thoughts and behaviors, to normalize eating, to acquire skills to manage anxiety and impulsivity and to learn relapse prevention skills. For adolescents, the PHP incorporates key aspects of the Maudsley Method, a family-based treatment that has been shown to be the most effective treatment for adolescents with eating disorders. The family-focused care at this level includes skills education and coaching based on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. This specifically targets emotional dysregulation related to interruption of eating disorder behaviors, addresses barriers and ambivalence to treatment and enhances effective family communication.
