Binge-Eating Disorder Recovery: Avoid Binge Foods Or Make Peace With Them?
There are steps in the process of eating disorder recovery. Jumping to the end steps without mastering previous skills can lead to frustration and delayed recovery. In the early stages of BED recovery I suggest not buying the triggering foods, so, in this scenario; I would initially say, “no, do not buy cookies.” In the early stages it is important to change your environment to set yourself up for success not challenge your resolve or test your distress tolerance skills. It’s just not helpful and can feel like torture.

The Role of Siblings In Eating Disorder Treatment

However, often parents are worried about involving the other children in treatment in fear of overwhelming them and may try to keep the eating disorder from consuming all of the family’s time. Unfortunately, when there is an eating disorder present it takes over the house and the siblings are more impacted and concerned than most parents are aware.

With help, I became stronger and Ed became weaker. Today, Ed is nowhere to be seen. He doesn't come anywhere with me and is silent. It can happen for you too. You can go through your days without hearing or being with Ed. It is possible.
Memorial Remembers Those Lost To Eating Disorders & Gives Patients Hope For Recovery
Last week, in commemoration of National Eating Disorder Awareness Week, Walden Behavioral Care’s Waltham location held a “Keep Hope Alive” memorial event in the reception area of the sites inpatient units to honor patients who had been treated at Walden and passed away due to complications of their eating disorders. The event was organized by Terri Eaton, director of expressive and milieu therapies, with the help of her expressive arts team and Walden’s marketing staff.
