When we are in recovery, no matter which stage of it, it is important to have an attitude of positivity and strength. At times it is hard to feel that inside because Ed can be so loud and hard to deal with. Also, people around you can say not so nice things and put doubt in your heads as to whether you can recover at all…and when Ed hears that he gets even louder and more convincing making you really question.

I am here to remind you that you CAN recover despite the negative messages you get from Ed (all lies by the way) and possibly others that surround you. When you hear these messages of doubt this is where you fight harder for the freedom you deserve. Don’t let anyone take that away from you. Don’t give them the power…take your power back. Take it back from Ed and take it back from those that cast doubt.  If someone says something inappropriate to you, speak up with recovery leading the conversation and say something.  You have the strength and power to stick up for you and your recovery.

When doubt creeps in, use positive self talk and affirmations to help pick you back up to get back in the right mind set. Make a list of goals you want to achieve and read them over and over. Call or email a supportive friend or family member. Journal your feelings to express yourself and help get past the negativity and release it. Repeat a positive mantra daily. Listen to your favorite recovery song to uplift your spirit. Doing these tools will help cast away doubt and bring forth the positive vision of freedom and recovery…which you CAN ACHIEVE.

Don’t ever think that you can’t do this and don’t ever think that you aren’t worth it. You can do it and you are worth it. Keep the positive attitude alive and continue to work hard, disobey and fight. Ed can be silenced and freedom CAN AND WILL BE YOURS. Stay strong and keep fighting….don’t ever doubt it!

With health, hope and strength,
Cheryl
