Inpatient Eating Disorders Treatment Services for Adults

Walden’s Adult Inpatient Eating Disorder Program is designed for persons 18 years and older who require the most intensive level of care and treatment to work toward recovery. Even for patients at this advanced stage of their eating disorder, the focus is on a planned, step-by-step process of recovery.

Medical stabilization is our first priority at this level of care. This requires that nursing staff monitor patients 24 hours a day and frequently check vital signs. Occasionally, intravenous fluid or nasogastric tube feeding is necessary to prevent further deterioration of the patient’s condition.

In addition to stabilizing the patient, we rely on our multidisciplinary team of experienced and dedicated doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, dietitians, therapists, expressive therapists and mental health counselors to evaluate the patient. This team designs a treatment plan that considers the patient’s medical, psychiatric, behavioral and spiritual needs.

Throughout treatment, patients participate in a wide variety of group counseling programs. They learn new skills, receive support and come to understand more about their disease and available treatments. If a patient has more than one disorder, the co-occurring conditions are treated concurrently.
