Genetic and Biomarker Testing and Evaluation

Genetic biomarkers are DNA sequences that indicates the presence of, or a susceptibility of, specific diseases or conditions.

At Walden Psychiatric Associates we use these tests to identify whether pharmacologic interventions will work effectively, given an individual’s unique genetic makeup. Many individuals come to us having tried many different medications to alleviate symptoms of mental health disorders, with little to no relief. For those who haven’t had much success with traditional pharmacological interventions, we often perform biomarker tests that can help us to more informatively alter and guide treatment paths.

Genetic and Biomarker tests are just pieces of the whole health picture, but they can play a major role in helping our providers to identify possible underlying causes of symptoms and behaviors.

Our care is highly individualized to most effectively treat each of our clients. Below are examples of some of the lab values that we evaluate:

  • Heavy Metals
  • Levels of Vitamins and Minerals
  • Dietary Allergies
  • Levels of Yeast and Bacteria
  • Pyroluria
  • Nutrient Biomarkers
