Walden Behavioral Care, a leading clinic for treating eating disorders, will host an open house at its new clinic at 100 University Dr., Amherst, on Thursday, May 21 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Walden is the only clinic in the Pioneer Valley specializing in the treatment of eating disorders. About 24 million Americans have eating disorders, yet only about 10% of those individuals seek and receive treatment. Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any psychiatric illness, and a majority of individuals with eating disorders also suffer from depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, or other disorders. The incidence of substance abuse is also much higher than in the general population.

Tours of the new 6,000-square-foot Amherst clinic will be provided at the open house. President and CEO Stuart Koman will speak and will be available for interviews.
