Dr. Mariela Podolski Walden Behavioral Care
Mariela Podolski, M.D.
Medical Director

Ballet was a huge part of my life growing up. As part of the dance community, I noticed that many of my friends developed pretty significant body image issues. Watching them struggle with eating and exercise disorders made me passionate about helping people with these complex conditions.

My residency brought me to The Institute of Living – an eating disorder treatment center in Hartford, CT. Eager to further my career within a bigger system of care, I joined Team Walden in 2012 and continue learning from my patients every single day. My advice for anyone considering treatment is to make this commitment to yourself – it is one of the bravest things you can do. You are capable and worthy of recovery.

Simon Ovanessian, M.D.
Associate Medical Director

I have been working in the field of psychiatry for almost 30 years! Most recently, I was the Assistant professor of Psychiatry at New York Medical College. My favorite part of what I do is having the opportunity to collaborate as a team in order to help our patients push forward in their recovery journeys.

Our unit here in Rockville is beautiful and newly-renovated – it really is a wonderful place to heal! I would encourage anyone who is considering treatment to give us a call! We are a group of compassionate and affirming individuals who really want to help you.

What We Offer
This level of care is best suited for adults in need of highly structured, 24-hour medical and psychological monitoring. We work toward medical and psychological stabilization and help you to establish treatment plans and recovery goals as you transition to lower levels of care.
