Walden’s Quatromoni Named 2016 Outstanding Dietetics Educator

Honored for Innovation in Nutrition Education and Eating Disorder Research

Paula Quatromoni of Medfield, senior consultant to Waltham-based Walden Behavioral Care’s nutrition department, has been named a 2016 Outstanding Dietetics Educator by the Nutrition and Dietetic Educators and Preceptors (NDEP) Council.

The award recognizes Quatromoni’s innovation and leadership as a tenured faculty member at Boston University, an ACEND-accredited (Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetic) dietetics education program, where she is chairman of the Department of Health Sciences and associate professor of nutrition and epidemiology. She has spoken nationally and published several papers on the clinical experiences and recovery of female athletes with eating disorders.

“Paula is an incredible teacher and colleague at Boston University and here at Walden Behavioral Care,” said Walden President and CEO Stuart Koman. “We congratulate her on this well-deserved honor – and celebrate the profound impact she brings to the academic, sports nutrition and eating disorder communities.”

Quatromoni joined Walden Behavioral Care in 2015 as a senior consultant to the organization’s nutrition department. In this role, she supervises the nutrition staff and coordinates education and training for local and distance dietetic interns and graduate students in nutrition who want exposure and training in the care of patients with eating disorders. She was instrumental in the recent creation of the Walden GOALS program, an intensive outpatient program (IOP) helping both male and female athletes balance performance with nutritional well-being.

This honor is the latest in a line of accolades for Quatromoni. She was also the 2007 recipient of the Whitney Powers Excellence in Teaching Award from Boston University’s Sargent College and the 2014 Excellence in Teaching Award from the Boston University School of Public Health.

Quatromoni will be formally honored on Thursday, April 21 at the NDEP Area 7 spring meeting in Buffalo, N.Y.
