This presentation gives an introduction to the assessment, diagnosis, etiology, risk factors, and treatment of binge eating disorder. Attention will be given to important aspects of clinical presentation in this diagnostic group.

This training, geared toward providers in the community, will focus how to identify, assess, intervene and potentially refer patients with eating disorders. The presentation will provide an overview of signs, symptoms and treatment protocols specific to the adolescent and adult population. The presentation will incorporate discussions about Meal Coaching, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Family Based Therapy as it relates to adults and adolescents in treatment and steps that staff can take to engage, assist and support their patients and families in the recovery process. By the end of the presentation, attendees will have a greater knowledge of eating disorders, treatment options, meal coaching tactics, and interventions. The presenter will demonstrate clear and informative steps staff can take to assist patients and their families throughout the referral and treatment process.

CES maintains responsibility for the program. ASWB status: Active. Social Workers should contact their regulatory board to determine course approval. Social Workers participating in this course will receive 6 clinical continuing education clock hours.
Nurses: As an American Psychological Association approved provider CES programs are accepted by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Every state Board of Nursing accepts ANCC approved programs except California and Iowa, however CES is also an approved Continuing Education provider by the California Board of Registered Nursing, (Provider Number CEP15567) which is also accepted by the Iowa Board of Nursing. Nurses completing this program receive 6 CE hours of credit..
