Did you know the risk of developing eating disorders is higher in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer/questioning (LGBTQ) community? For instance, only 3% of American men identify as being gay or bisexual, but 42% of American men with eating disorders identify as gay or bisexual. Another study shows approximately 16% of transgender college students report having an eating disorder.

Until recently, there’s been a lack of specialized resources for this unique population – not only around accessing the best treatment, but also addressing any underlying co-occurring psychological or environmental or conditions rooted in the disorder.
